Sequence planning of sheet metal parts manufactured using progressive dies

Abstract Progressive dies are widely used for the mass manufacture of sheet metal parts requiring several stamping operations. Sequencing these operations is vital as it influences design die, especially number stations required to make part. This paper presents a method automatically generating sequence plan manufactured using progressive dies. establishes scheme that maps features into their corresponding operations, including shearing, bending and forming. The mapped initially placed in one two categories then category clubbed together heuristic rules. essential characteristics each group analysed establish fuzzy relationships between any selected remaining groups. final membership value vector obtained from set theory A program developed C++ based on this has been tested representative industrial parts. methodology validated by comparing generated sequences, case studies, with those industry.
